Police pursuit ends in deadly crash on Wrightsboro Road
AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Richmond County deputies responded to the scene of a fatal accident at Wrightsboro Road and Troupe Street around 9 p.m. Saturday.
Deputies were involved in a pursuit with a vehicle when the accident occurred.
At 9:11 p.m., there was a two-car collision.
When firefighters arrived, one car was in flames and the other had rolled over on its side.
Crews extinguished the vehicle fire.
Authorities say people inside both the cars got out, but one needed R until an ambulance could then transport the patient to the hospital.
The Richmond County Coroner’s Office says 50-year-old Raymond Allen was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office says several other people were taken to hospitals by ambulance and their conditions were unknown.
The Georgia State Patrol responded to the scene at the request of the sheriff’s agency and is handling the investigation.
