Now you can receive free Botox by donating blood during drive
AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - In partnership with Southern Dermatology, Shepeard Community Blood Center is offering a Botox treatment for people that donate blood before July 7.
The center is having a blood drive at Southern Dermatology on Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Donors will receive Botox gift certificate for $120 at any Shepeard blood drive through this Friday.
Not only is this a unique strategy, but it also shows how desperate they are for blood.
“In what would normally be a very stressful week, Southern Dermatology is turning frowns upside down – both literally and figuratively,” said Shepeard CEO Benjamin Prijatel. “We are very grateful for this partnership and their generosity.”
They say during the week of the Fourth of July, their donations get extremely low.
It’s why they’re getting creative with this partnership to give you free Botox in exchange for your blood.
One pint of blood can save up to three lives and until Friday, it can get you a new look too.
Southern Dermatology Owner Brianna Brown said: “If you go out to one of the donation sites, you’re gonna get a snazzy little gift card and that’s all that you need to come in and book your appointment.”
Shepeard serves 29 hospitals in the CSRA, but they’ve not been able to meet their needs.
So, hospitals end up having to ration the blood, using it for their sickest patients.
Regina Jeffries with Shepeard said: “We really need to meet our numbers, so that our local people in the hospitals can get the blood that they need.”
While there is a year-round need for blood- Shepeard says accidents, shootings, and traumas spike typically during the summer.
Before Brianna Brown and her husband opened Southern Dermatology, they both served in the military.
So, they know what that need can look like.
“We know firsthand how critical blood donation is. So that’s why this is near and dear to our heart. So combining that with something that’s more fun and light and airy like Botox I think is the perfect combination,” she said.
Shepeard says they’ve needed blood for months, but now there’s no backup.
“We don’t have any holding out, so we really need to get those filled so that we can, you know, start having a backup,” said Jeffries.
Shepeard has donor centers in Augusta, Evans, Grovetown, Aiken, and Dublin open for the event.
Donors must meet donor and patient eligibility requirements to qualify for the free Botox.
You can also visit the mobile drive in the parking lot of Southern Dermatology on Washington Road in Evans from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
