S.C. cops chase ‘Bonnie and Clyde wannabes’ in spray-painted car
GRAY COURT, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - The Laurens County Sheriff’s Office said “Bonnie and Clyde wannabes” were arrested after leading deputies on two pursuits on Monday.
According to the sheriff’s office, around 9 a.m., deputies on a routine patrol in the area of South Frontage Road and Cook Road in Gray Court noticed a person speeding in a black Honda sedan and having trouble maintaining lanes. The tag on the vehicle was expired and deputies were able to identify the driver as Joshua Harvey.
Deputies said a traffic stop was attempted, however, Harvey refused to stop. Once the pursuit crossed the Greenville County line, a decision was made to terminate the pursuit at that time.
At approximately 2:45 p.m., deputies said they were in near Harvey’s home following up on the pursuit from that morning. The same car, now spray painted white, was seen recklessly driving driven in the area of Bull Hill Road. Another traffic stop was attempted but the car refused to stop.

Officials said the car was successfully disabled on I-385 and this time, the driver was identified as Harvey’s significant other, Rosie Smith.
Animal Control arrived on scene to recover a dog, a cat, and four chickens that were all inside the car during the time of this pursuit.
At this time, deputies said Joshua David Harvey has only been formally charged with failure to stop. The other charges are still pending.
Rosie Tressa Nicole Smith was charged with the following:
- Failure to stop
- DUI, 1st offense
- (2 counts) Ill treatment of animals, 1st
- Driving under suspension, 1st
- Unlawful operation of vehicle
- Operating with expired registration
- Seatbelt violation
“These Bonnie and Clyde wannabes have tried to make fleeing from law enforcement a habit, but eventually your luck runs out,” said Sheriff Don Reynolds. “I want to thank the deputies involved for their work to put these two behind bars and I am thankful for a safe conclusion.”
