2 arrested in weekend slaying of Thomson 21-year-old

THOMSON, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - The Georgia Bureau of Investigation arrested and charged two suspects in connection to the death of a 21-year-old from Thomson on Sunday, one of the latest victims in a CSRA crime outbreak that’s claimed about 150 lives in nearly two years.
The GBI has arrested and charged Ra’Quan Reese, 23, of Warrenton, and Sherkendria Duggans, 22, of Thomson, with felony murder and aggravated assault charges in McDuffie County.
On Feb. 11, the McDuffie County Sheriff’s Office asked the GBI to investigate the shooting death of Otekqueonna Williams, age 21, of Thomson.
The investigation shows that during the early morning hours of Sunday, an argument took place between two groups of people in the 100 block of McCommons Street.
At some point, people from both groups fired shots at the other group.
Williams and a woman from Warrenton were both shot.
Williams died at a local hospital and the woman was taken to a hospital in Augusta for treatment for her injuries.
The investigation indicates neither Williams nor the injured woman were involved in the argument.
Reese and Duggans are currently booked at the McDuffie County Jail.
This investigation is active and ongoing.
