GROVETOWN, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - A law enforcement report is revealing new details about how a 4-year-old boy was hurt after falling out of a vehicle and being run over on Exit 190 in Grovetown.

According to the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, the victim fell out of a vehicle while going through the diverging diamond around 1:24 p.m. Monday.

After falling out, he was then run over by his mom’s car, the sheriff’s office says.

The sheriff’s office says the victim is currently in the pediatric intensive-care unit at the Children’s Hospital of Georgia with suspected serious injuries.

The vehicle was traveling north in the inside through lane on Lewiston Road just past the intersection with the I-20 east when the driver’s side back door opened, according to the report.

The driver was found to be at fault, according to authorities.

The investigation is pending and there have been no charges filed yet, officials say.
