(Gray News) - Kroger is celebrating the summer solstice by giving away free ice cream.

On June 20, Kroger will be giving away 45,000 pints of Kroger brand ice cream.

“Summer means more time with family, more time by the pool and more time indulging in our favorite treats, and nothing says a perfect summer day like sunshine and Kroger® Brand ice cream,” said Juan De Paoli, vice president of Our Brands for Kroger, in a statement. “With more sunshine to enjoy a sweet treat, we are giving away ice cream for 15 hours straight; that is a whole lot of free ice cream.”

In order to redeem the offer, you will need to go to FreeKrogerIceCream.com and a digital coupon. Each coupon can only be ed on June 20.

The summer solstice on June 20 will have 15 hours of sunlight, so there will be plenty of time to enjoy some ice cream while basking in the sun.

It marks the first astronomical day of summer for the Northern Hemisphere. It is the longest day of the year, and the days following will be shorter until the winter solstice on Dec. 21.

Unfortunately, Kroger’s free ice cream deal is not valid in Arkansas, California, Colorado, Idaho, Kentucky, Louisiana, Missouri, Mississippi, Montana, North Dakota, Nevada, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia and Wyoming.
