Local group opens center to help kids with autism
A local organization is expanding its services for families with children who have autism.

The organization “The Active Dad” fosters a sense of togetherness among dads by helping organize events like this.
Fathers, grandfathers and male guardians could share an ice cream with their kids.
But the event was about more than just having an excuse to get ice cream.
As one father described how being out in the community can help.
North Augusta rescue aims to heal kids through horses
Healing with horses is what one local rescue is doing for kids of all ages. Hope for Hooves Rescue is getting ready to welcome kids who are navigating crises, trauma and life challenges.

Ronnie Garvin, one of the owners of Whipped Creamery, said, “As a father myself sometimes we don’t get enough recognition or alone time with our kids because we are always working but this gives a little recognition to dads as well as interacting with other dads and their children. Instead of a mommy date it’s a daddy date.”
And one of the organizers, who grew up in Augusta said being a part of the program for him is about helping build the community and helping change people’s lives.
