Thomson, Swainsboro face-off for 1st time in a decade

THOMSON, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - At least once a football season we get a storm that just goes and switches everything up.
About a dozen high schools decided to move their Friday night games to Thursday, including a match-up we haven’t seen in a decade.
The last time these two met, it was 2013 and the Bulldogs beat the Tigers 13-6.
We were at the Brickyard for an evening face-off between Swainsboro and Thomson.
It doesn’t get much better than Thursday night football at the Brickyard.

While their school is a quarter of the size of their scheduled opponents, it hasn’t deterred the teams motivation towards success.

Thomson and Swainsboro were both fighting to get their seasons back on track.
Anthony Jeffery might only be 5 foot 8 inches tall, but he can move quickly as lightning.
The senior runningback got things started early for the Bulldogs.
Junior Wide Receiver Jaris Sinkfield ed in on the fun with an easy pitch and catch to add to the lead. It was just the first of his three touchdowns.
Through the first four games of the season, the Bulldogs managed to lose or win every game by exactly seven points.
But not this time.
“I was proud of our guys. We challenged them a little bit at halftime. We came back out and scored a couple more touchdowns but it just feels good to finally put a good product on the field and try to finish so I’m proud of our guys for going ahead and finishing and our coaches for pushing them to finish,” said Thomson Head Coach Michael Youngblood.
Thomson is now the winner of three straight games as they dismantled Swainsboro, 56-7.
They’ll start region play right back at the brickyard next Friday against Laney.
