3-year-old injured following shooting in Orangeburg

ORANGEBURG, S.C. (WIS) - A 3-year-old girl received temporary treatment after her foot was injured during a shooting in Orangeburg.

According to the Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office, a unit responded to Marlboro Street on Tuesday regarding multiple reports of shots being fired in the area.

An incident report stated the girl’s father said he and his two kids were watching television, and the mother was asleep in the bedroom when the shots began.

Deputies said the 3-year-old received temporary treatment for a gunshot wound from Orangeburg County EMS and was taken to MUSC Orangeburg for further evaluation.

Grovetown suspect sought in connection to kidnapping, child cruelty and other crimes

The Grovetown Police Department is seeking the assistance of the public in locating a suspect wanted in connection to a kidnapping and child cruelty incident, officials said Friday.

The father told deputies once the shooting stopped, he immediately rushed outside to identify the shooter but was unable to see anything. He also said he did not have any altercations with anyone and was unaware of anyone seeking to cause him or his family any harm.

The report stated deputies found several cartridge casings from assault rifles to handguns scattered around the home, leading to the residence and the roadway.

Deputies said the home sustained severe damage to both the exterior and interior, estimated at approximately $5,000.

The case was forwarded to the Orangeburg County Criminal Investigations Division.
