Boil water advisory lifted for Grovetown residents
GROVETOWN, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - The boil water advisory for residents in certain areas of the city of Grovetown has been lifted, according to city officials.
On Friday, the city released a statement saying the advisory had been lifted and that residents in the affected areas may now use their water as normal.
City officials say this also applies to students of Columbia County schools in Grovetown as well.
School officials notified parents that a water main break left several Columbia County schools temporarily without water on Thursday morning.
School officials said they were notified of a boil water advisory within the city of Grovetown, which impacted Grovetown Elementary School, Grovetown Middle School, Cedar Ridge Elementary School and the Columbia County Alternative School.
I-TEAM: Helene has displaced students at nearly every Richmond County school
The Richmond County School System has been using an online form to identify students and their immediate needs, in order to connect parents with local resources.

The break did not occur on either campus and officials are making every effort to continue school operations as normally as possible.
Water was restored at 10 a.m. Thursday morning.
As of Thursday, water fountains were restricted at all four schools. Water bottles were being provided to students and staff.
The schools’ nutrition teams followed precautionary steps with preparing lunches, according to officials.
Grab-and-go pre-prepackaged breakfasts will be available and we encourage parents to send their students to school with water bottles. Bottles of water will be available at the school as needed for students and staff.
At this time, no changes have been made to the normal school schedule and officials will continue to keep parents informed of any updates.
