Brentwood Academy takes home state title over Southeast Georgia

STATESBORO, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - The Brentwood War Eagles capped off a Cinderella season with a monster second-half defensive performance, and it lifted them to a GIAA 2A state title game.
Brentwood took on Southwest Georgia on Saturday night in Statesboro.
Tristan Robinson gave the War Eagles their first three touchdowns of the night.
The freshman playing in the biggest game of his life gives Brentwood the early lead.
“Tristan, man, he’s a stud. He’s great in open space but he’s just a piece of the puzzle. We got an unbelievable team and it just really helps when you’ve got guys who can make plays in open space,” said Lord.
Spinning in and helmet flying off, Robinson’s second touchdown gave Brentwood a 14-6 halftime lead.
The War Eagles’ defense stood tall in the second half, keeping the Warriors out of the score column the rest of the game.
Edmund Burke wins state title for second year in a row
What was already a regular season to for the Edmund Burke Spartans has now become a complete season to , while they chased back-to-back state titles.

“Very relentless. That little defense we’ve got will get after your tail and they did it tonight,” said Lord.
Robinson’s third touchdown of the night sealed this one away for Brentwood and the celebration was underway.

Lord secured his first state championship with the War Eagles as they took down Southwest Georgia 28-6.
“I can’t describe it. I’ll be honest with you, this is my first one, but I know this, we have the best fans in the country. We have great kids and I’m proud to be a Brentwood War Eagle,” said Lord.
