ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Police are investigating a threat made against Georgia State University in downtown Atlanta.

Lawrenceville Police confirmed to Atlanta News First that they received a call around 6:30 a.m. about what they called a “mass shooting threat” at Georgia State Thursday morning.

The Georgia State University Police Department says it received a phone call from Lawrenceville 911 about a threat to the university’s Convocation Center.

A substitute teacher killed during a mass shooting at a Wisconsin Christian school on Monday graduated from Kennesaw State University.

Erin West, a full-time staff member at ALCS, was shot and killed on Monday.

Officials say GSUPD officers completed a full security check of the Convocation Center building and an “all-clear” was given around 8 a.m.

The Atlanta Police Department, Homeland Security and the FBI are aware of the threat, and all agencies are investigating the source, Georgia State Police say.

Final exams are over and classes for the fall semester have ended. There are two graduation ceremonies scheduled for Thursday at Georgia State.

“The Georgia State Convocation Center is the site of two GSU Commencement ceremonies today at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. These ceremonies will proceed as planned with increased security measures,” GSUPD said in a statement.

The department says there will be extra GSU police officers and Atlanta police officers in parking lots and adjacent areas, and all attendees will be required to through metal detectors and adhere to the building’s clear bag policy.
