AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Time is running out for you to help the Salvation Army of Augusta reach its fundraising goal.

Tuesday is the last day you’ll hear bell ringers around our area working to raise $235,000. At the last check, the Salvation Army was $50,000 short.

Christmas 2024: The big day is almost here

  1. In the midst of shipping delays, shop locally for your last-minute gifts
  2. Last-minute local shoppers still looking for just the right gift
  3. Foster with Augusta Animal Services and give a pet a home for Christmas
  4. How the Tri-Development Center is helping you help them this Christmas
  5. Burn center tells families the right way to dispose of Christmas trees

If you’re considering donating, they want you to know that your money will stay local.

“As you’re out shopping today, if you see one of the red kettles you can put it in there or one of our QR codes, you can donate online,” says Jonathan Raymer, Salvation Army volunteer. “All of that stays here local and all of that goes to what we are doing at our Center of Hope where in the past two years we’ve been able to move 300 people from homelessness to being housed. We’ve been able to help 600 people this year stay in their homes, so it goes to a very good cause and helps those in need.”

The Salvation Army says this holiday bell-ringing fundraiser is their biggest campaign of the year.
