Pilot in Ga. accused of trying to fly plane while intoxicated
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Georgia authorities say a Southwest Airlines pilot has been arrested for DUI.
According to the Chatham County Jail, David Allsop was taken into police custody after authorities at the Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport boarded Southwest Airlines flight No. 3772 on Wednesday.

2 young men die after boat overturns in Screven County
Two young males are dead after their boat overturned while fishing, according to the Screven County Sheriff’s Office.

“We felt it moving away, and then it just stopped,” said enger Robert Newmerch.
Newmerch says he was heading to his layover in Chicago from the airport, it was an early morning for him as his flight was supposed to take off just after 6 a.m However, that never happened.
“I saw a police officer enter the plane and then go into the cockpit, then got off the plane, then a few minutes later came back and the pilot left with him,” said Newmerch. “I saw him interacting with the stewardess but it seemed fine.”
Allsop was arrested Wednesday morning after showing up prepared to take flight while intoxicated.
Evans dad gets ticket over 12-year-old’s golf cart accident
A dad got a citation for letting his unlicensed 12-year-old daughter drive a golf cart that got involved in an accident and threw the girl and a enger.

“I can’t get onto a plane without taking my shoes off, how is any piloted getting on with any alcohol in his system whatsoever,” said Newmerch. Confused on how this even happened.
Allsop was booked into the Chatham County Jail and charged with a DUI, his bail was set at $3,500.
According to the Federal Aviation istration, “regulations prohibit pilots from using alcohol while on duty or from flying, or attempting to fly, an aircraft within 8 hours of consuming alcohol or if they have a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of 0.04% or greater.”
This is 0.04% less than driving a car in the State of Georgia.
Parents raise alarm after video shows gun come out during school fight
After what appeared to be a gun fell to the floor during a fight between students at Butler High School, parents are raising questions as to why there are no metal detectors in our public schools.

Newmerch completely canceled his trip and says that if he wasn’t nervous about flying before he is now.
“To see that and know that, that was why I did not fly to Midway this morning, left a pit in my stomach.”
When asked about what the engers were told by airline crews, Newmerch says they were told they had to get off because of “paperwork issues.”
He says that he had a gut feeling that was never the case but he got off the plane and decided to cancel his flight altogether.
Local Walgreens store says it’s closing permanently
As Walgreens struggles to make a comeback, it's planning to close around 1,200 locations – and at least one of them is here.

“I’m already iffy about flying,” He added. “I don’t travel too often but this is going to change the way I travel if I am being honest.”
Southwest Airlines said it was made aware of the situation and the employee in question on the flight from Savannah was removed from duty that morning.
“Customers were accommodated on other flights and we apologize for the disruption to their travel plans,” a spokesperson for the airline also shared.
