South Carolina to offer free HIV, STD testing this Thursday
AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Officials with the Department of Public Health report that while African-Americans make up a little over a quarter of South Carolina’s population, they make up almost two-thirds of HIV cases, and more than half of new cases are reported among black patients.
To continue battling this epidemic, officials are recognizing National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day this week.
In recognition of the day, they’re offering free HIV or STD testing Thursday at clinics across the state.
Here are the clinics offering the testing in the CSRA:
Emanuel County disaster recovery center to close permanently
The FEMA disaster recovery center in Emanuel County is set to permanently close this week, according to the agency.
- Aiken County: 222 Beaufort Street, Aiken County Health Department.
- Bamberg County: 50 Dickinson Street Extension, Bamberg County Health Department.
- Barnwell County: 11015 Ellenton StreetHighway 278, Barnwell County Health Department.
- Edgefield County: 21 Star Road, Edgefield County Health Department.
- Orangeburg County: 1550 Carolina Avenue, Orangeburg County Health Department, or, 8423A Old State Road, Holly Hill Home Health Services.
