UGA breaks application record for incoming Class of 2029
ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - The University of Georgia (UGA) has broken a record for prospective students applying to the college.
For the Class of 2029, UGA set a new record with nearly 48,000 applications received, which was an almost 5,000 increase from last year.
“Year after year, the University of Georgia continues to attract incredibly talented students who arrive on campus ready to embrace their role as future leaders,” said President Jere W. Morehead. “I congratulate the students who have been itted to the Class of 2029, and I look forward to welcoming them to our world-class learning environment this fall.”
Of the thousands of applicants, over 15,800 students were accepted for the fall semester.
Students were accepted from all 50 states and Washington, D.C. The university said students from Georgia who were accepted were from 154 of the state’s 159 counties — adding six more counties from the previous year.
The incoming Class of 2029 consists of 80% in-state students and the remainder is from out of state, the university said.
The university has a 33% overall acceptance rate, according to UGA.
