2 CSRA schools get Ga. grants to boost early literacy efforts

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Two CSRA schools are among the recipients of Georgia Early Literacy Alignment Mini Grants.

The program provides up to $5,000 to each recipient.

It’s an effort by the Georgia Foundation for Early Care + Learning and the Georgia Foundation for Public Education to get schools and child-care providers to work together to improve early reading.

Hancock County’s Marvin E. Lewis Elementary School was selected as a Round 1 partner, while Washington County’s Ridge Road Primary School was selected as a Round 2 partner.

The schools will conduct professional development activities and share progress with other schools and providers.
