Suspect arrested in shooting that killed 28-year-old in March
AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - A 35-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a shooting that left a person dead in March, according to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies say Donnell Mitchell was arrested on Monday for a murder that occurred on the 1900 block of Dabney Drive on March 19.
Mitchell is charged with murder, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during a crime, according to jail bookings.
16-month-old dies in Augusta, and coroner calls it ‘suspicious’; 2nd child taken to hospital
The Richmond County Coroner’s Office is investigating what it calls the “suspicious death” of a 16-month-old child.

The Richmond County Coroner’s Office says A’kki Pauley, 28, of Augusta, was killed in the shooting.
The coroner’s office says Pauley was shot at least one time while sitting in a vehicle.
Pauley was taken to the hospital by private and was pronounced dead at 11:34 a.m.
25-year-old killed at apartments in crime-troubled Fox Trace area off Wrightsboro Road
One person is dead after a shooting at an apartment complex off Wrightsboro Road in a neighborhood that’s historically been troubled with violent crime.

Also injured in the shooting was a man who was found in the 1800 block of Cooney Circle and taken to a hospital.
The shooting happened amid a surge in violent crime that’s claimed about 200 lives across the CSRA in the past three years.
Communities large and small have been affected, but as the largest city in the region, Augusta has been hit especially hard.
