Girl Scout breaks state record by selling more than 35,000 boxes of cookies
MADISON, Wis. (WMTV/Gray News) - A Wisconsin Girl Scout has officially sold more Girl Scout cookies than anyone in state history.
According to the Girl Scouts of Wisconsin Badgerland, Molly Lenius has set the new state record by selling 35,598 boxes of cookies over 13 years.
The cookie sales have also funded Lenius’s participation in Girl Scout Destinations, which has allowed her to travel to places like Costa Rica, Italy and Hawaii.
“As a child, I was very shy,” Lenius said. “Selling cookies helped me get out of my comfort zone and taught me how to talk to strangers.”
Molly Lenius isn’t the only one in the family with a ion for selling Girl Scout Cookies.
The Girl Scouts of Wisconsin said Molly Lenius’ older sister, Victoria Lenius, has also sold 29,000 boxes, bringing the family’s total sales to more than 64,000 boxes.
According to the organization, Molly Lenius is additionally a Gold Award Girl Scout who led a community project at Olbrich Botanical Gardens with educational tutorials.
Molly Lenius said she plans to attend Iowa State University and major in mechanical engineering with a minor in mathematics.
