Cyber Power Camp underway this week at Aiken Tech
AIKEN, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - School may be out for summer, but that does not mean learning stops.
Aiken Technical College is hosting its Cyber Power Camp this week to increase the youth’s interest in computer technology and robotics.
During the camp, participants will get to build and program a model rover and complete challenges that go along with the camp’s theme, Mars Rover Mission.
We visited the camp on Tuesday, where teenagers were learning how to build and program a model rover.
With road upgrades in limbo, plans stall for S.C. Buc-ee’s
Officials will need to come up with $54 million to make road improvements before a new Buc-ee’s can be built in the Palmetto State.

“I think it’s pretty cool we get to learn the stuff we are going to be able to eventually do to a robot, and like the whole thing is just literally being run by our desk, and the code is running the thing with coding software,” said Charles Craney, student at St. Marys.
Students tell us coding is basically another form of communication.
“Code is the language that computers run off of, and it’s basically the language you use in your daily life, so even your microwave runs off of code,” said Craney. “Anything with technology runs off of code; it’s the instructions you give your computer to do something.”
The camp takes place from June 9 through June 13, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
This is a part of the Metallica Scholars Initiative program, which helps communities advance career and technical education.
