Deputies investigate baby’s death at Grovetown home daycare

GROVETOWN, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Deputies with the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the death of a 4-month-old girl at a Grovetown home daycare on Fieldstone Road.

Deputies say the baby was found unresponsive at the daycare on Thursday.

According to officials, the operator of the daycare said she laid the baby down on a bed to sleep around 10:30 a.m., then found her unresponsive around two hours later.

Officials say she then called 911 and began R.

The baby was transported to Doctors Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, according to the sheriff’s office.

An autopsy has been scheduled by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
